MELBOURNE Heart has signed former Leeds United and Leicester City defender Patrick Kisnorbo.
Capped 18 times by the Socceroos, Kisnorbo has signed a one-year deal with the Heart.

The 32-year-old forged a reputation as one of the English Championship’s most reliable defenders during eight years with Leicester then Leeds after initially moving to Scottish club Hearts.

After leaving Leeds at the end of last season Kisnorbo was trialling with Preston North End but when the League One club didn’t offer him a deal Heart swooped.

Kisnorbo, who completed his medical on Monday, is expected to be fit for the round 1 derby having played a handful of friendlies for Preston in recent months and will travel with the Heart squad today to play two friendlies with Perth Glory

The uncompromising defender broke into the National Soccer League with South Melbourne, where he spent three years.

A member of the 2007 Asian Cup squad, Kisnorbo hasn’t featured for the Socceroos since 2009 having been affected by injury for the last few years.
